Who Says You Need Hands To Play The Piano?

They say that music soothes even the most savage of beasts, but what about when the beast itself is musical? That’s exactly the case with Sapphire, the musically inclined horse who’s been taking YouTube by storm. He’s got the music in him and he’s not letting a little thing like having no hands stop him! Instead, he wiggles his big ol’ horse lips to tinkle the ivories. Keep it up, Sapphire, I eagerly await a follow-up video where you play “Chopsticks.” Don’t forget to SHARE this musical horse with your friends and family! Can You Keep Up With This 10 Year Old And His Bike?

Do you remember how old you were when you stopped riding your bike with training wheels? Most kids graduate from training wheels anywhere between five and eight years old. Unless of course you’re Kaden “Dubby” Stone, who probably skipped training wheels and went straight to the BMX park. BMX stands for “bicycle motocross,” an extreme sport that involves racing and performing stunts using small bikes. Kaden was only 10 years old when he set a goal to master 10 difficult BMX tricks before his next birthday. He starts out by performing seemingly simple flourishes, but moves onto more difficult feats as the list goes on, eventually attempting an intimidating “eleventh trick” that makes the previous 10 look like a leisurely ride through the park. Lost Wallet Discovered 71 Years Later

There aren’t too many feelings worse than the sudden realization that you’ve lost your wallet. Replacing it is no fun, especially if you think that your lost one may be in the hands of someone you don’t know. We hold out hope that a good Samaritan will return it, but unfortunately, that’s often not the case. If a wallet is missing for more than a few days, it’s best to give up hope and start canceling the cards left inside.  Finding a lost wallet requires a stroke of luck, but finding a wallet that’s been lost for 71 years? That is about as likely as hitting the lottery. But for Clare McIntosh, that is exactly what happened. It occurred at the Talent Factory Theater in Iowa, a theater that has been around since the early 1920s and was in the process of being renovated. While tearing apart the old floorboard, an employee noticed something strange sticking out. Once he picked it up, he realized it was an old wallet. Once he saw how old, though, he was left in total shock.  Papers in the wallet dated back to 1944 and rations from the war were found inside. The owner of the theater found a handwritten ID in the wallet, claiming it belonged to a man by the name of Clare McIntosh, whose telephone number was eight. Yes, just the number eight. Luckily, 71 years later, Clare was still alive and well, and more than happy to stop by and pick up his long-lost wallet. Hopefully he’ll keep a better eye on it this time.  H/T: KCCI Read more: http://www.wimp.com/old-wallet-discovered-1944/

Tom Hanks Reveals This Secret About Woody From “Toy Story”

There are so many animated movies that have a special place in our hearts. Growing up, cartoons and animated movies were like gateways into other worlds where the conventional rules of reality don’t exist. Humor and compelling stories are uniquely conveyed through the animation process, and the only limit is the creativity of the people who are making it. Of all the children’s movies that have been released over the past 25 years, none have impacted the animation industry more than Disney’s “Toy Story.” Prior to the film’s release, a digitally animated film of this scale had never been attempted. The stakes were incredibly high as it was a venture into the unknown, but the payoff was well worth it. With the help of the star-studded cast of voice actors that included Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Wallace Shawn and Don Rickles, the film became a smash hit among both children and adults. It would go on to be nominated for several Academy Awards and won eight Annie Awards, including Best Animated Feature. The movie’s success was so great that it spawned several sequels, and “Toy Story 4” is slated to be released in 2018. Sheriff Woody Pride (Woody) is perhaps one of the most recognizable characters from the movie, and he instantly became a fan-favorite character due to his unique personality and his role as the leader of the other toys. With Woody comically paired with Buzz Lightyear, it’s hard not to chuckle as the two opposites struggled to overcome obstacles in their adventures. Tom Hanks is universally praised for his work in voicing the character of Woody. The accomplished actor brought a familiar voice that perfectly matched the down-to-earth mentality that Woody represented. Through the years, the popularity of the character has spread to many different generations of children. Some of you may have even passed the love for the character on to your kids. Amazon Here we see Isaac Torres – who is just over a year old – accompanied by his favorite doll, Woody. Even though he wasn’t born at the time of the original movie, his love for the character is just as strong. Elsa Grace Torres In a recent interview on BBC’s “The Graham Norton Show,” Tom Hanks revealed that kids who were lucky enough to have talking Woody toys may not have been getting an “authentic” Woody experience. If you did happen to have one of those dolls, you might have noticed it for yourself and blamed it on a subpar speaker, but Woody’s voice has always appeared a bit off.   ⤠#tomhanks #tomhanksworld A photo posted by Tom Hanks (@tomhanksworld) on Dec 6, 2014 at 9:49am PST The truth behind it is that the Sheriff Woody doll was actually voiced by someone else: Jim Hanks – Tom’s Brother. This had always been the rumor, and word had spread around about it for years. Putting an end to the speculation, Tom confirmed what many have suspected all along. He went on to say, “There are so many computer games, and video things, and Jim, […]

“Slurpee” Waves Off The Coast Of Nantucket

Everyone has dreamed of diving into a giant pool of Jell-O at least once in their life. No? Just me? Be honest, there had to have been one time at the swimming pool when you estimated how much powder you’d need to turn the entire thing from water to orange Jell-O. While in retrospect the idea seems impractical and messy, there’s no denying how much fun that sounded when we were kids. Last year, photographer Jonathan Nimerfroh got closer to making that dream come true than most of us ever will. The only difference was, instead of a pool full of Jell-O, Jonathan found himself staring at an ocean full of Slurpee. Well … sort of. The waters of the Atlantic Ocean weren’t actually filled with the icy convenience store beverage, but only looked like it due to the unusually cold temperatures that were making it freeze. Lakes freeze every year, but oceans? That’s something you don’t see every winter. So, the photographer/surfer/ocean enthusiast set out to capture the beauty of this rare event. As the partially-frozen waves churned and hit the shore, they appeared to be made out of something much thicker than water. Jonathan describes the sight as follows, “The wind was howling from southwest which would typically make rough or choppy conditions, not so good for surfing. But since the surface of the sea was frozen slush, the wind did not change the shape. They were perfect dreamy slush waves.” Scroll through the pictures below for an up-close look at this bizarre phenomenon. The next time this happens, we’ll be sure to have some grape Slurpee mix on hand! They were a strange, thick consistency … they reminded him of the Slurpee machines at 7-Eleven. Maybe a silly name for such a majestic phenomenon, but his photo series “Slurpee Waves” is breathtaking. The unusual look of the waves comes from the shifts in the water and air temperature.  When he took these photos, the temperature in Nantucket was 19°F. In “Stay Wild Magazine,” he talked about the day he took the photos: “Just been super cold here. The harbor to the mainland is frozen solid … The day after I took these it actually froze up the shoreline for 200 yards out.” Jonathan is “obsessed with the ocean,” and, in addition to his sea-centric photography, is an avid surfer. Check out this video to see the Slurpee waves in action: If you liked this story, be sure to SHARE it with your friends! H/T: JDN Photography Read more: http://www.wimp.com/frozenwaves/

We can only hope to be as full of life as Albina when we (hopefully!) reach her age. Albina’s story isn’t finished, however. Our Bodies Are Full Of Vestigial Structures

There are certain subjects we aren’t supposed to discuss at dinner parties for fear of sparking a heated argument. Politics, religion, and “Coke vs. Pepsi” are just a few examples of topics that can send the most mild-manned person into a fit of passion. These are big topics, and there’s no way a single dinner conversation could ever unpack all the complex theories and mysteries associated with them. It might go without saying, but it’s an absolute necessity to remain mature and civil when discussing such delicate matters. After all, we’ll never make any progress if we storm off and ignore what our peers have to say, dismissing their opinions as false before they ever open their mouths. Which brings us to evolution. An undeniably hot topic, evolution has made the news due to controversies surrounding whether or not it should be taught in schools. The very nature of evolution conflicts with some people’s religious beliefs, while others view the scientific evidence as undeniable proof. No matter what your personal beliefs are, it’s no secret that the human body is breathtaking, and a recent video from Vox wants to show us just that. The four-minute-long video gives viewers a crash course in “vestigial structures.” Vestigial structures are the parts of your body that are shaped like vests. Don’t worry, I’m joking. They’re actually structures in your body that no longer serve a purpose, but bear a remarkable resemblance to structures in other creatures that do serve a purpose. Are these structures evidence that we evolved from a long line of ancestors who required different body parts than us, or are they simply a coincidence? That’s for you to decide.
