Flash The Lamb’s Future Is So Bright, He’s Gotta Wear Shades

If you’re an animal lover like I am, chances are you know someone who dresses up their pets. Heck, you might even do it yourself! While there’s nothing wrong with this fun, and often adorable, practice, sometimes it can get a little out of hand. After all, there’s a difference between knitting your pup a sweater to keep it warm and turning it into “Superman” just for fun. Needless to say, when I saw pictures of a lamb wearing sunglasses floating around online, I was a bit skeptical. Were his owners putting those on him just so they could take funny photographs? Are those sunglasses even comfortable for him? Thankfully, all of those concerns went away when I learned the truth behind Flash the Lamb’s new pair of shades. As it turns out, his sunglasses had nothing to do with his owner’s desire to dress him up and everything to do with keeping him healthy and safe. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that they make him look like the coolest lamb on the block in the process … Check out the pictures below to learn more about Flash and the special pair of glasses that protect his vision. Flash is your average, everyday lamb … with the exception of one special accessory. Just three weeks old, Flash experienced complications with one of his eyes shortly after birth. Thankfully, his owner came up with a clever solution. SWNS TV “We noticed something wrong with one of his eyes after he was rejected by mom,” said owner Taya Dutt. “He has uveitis due to an infection of unknown origin – the eye is no longer inflamed after a course of antibiotics and eyedrops – but the bright sunlight can cause him pain so a pair of sunglasses solves the problem!” The Countryside Alliance If you think this eye condition is going to stop Flash from running around and playing, this video will convince you otherwise:   (function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));   This little lamb is saying farewell to harmful UV rays and hello to a bright future! Rare Footage Of A Pregnant Male Seahorse Giving Birth

It’s extremely rare to see a seahorse give birth in the wild, but that’s exactly what two members of Project Seahorse, a conservationist group, captured with a GoPro camera this past November. Clayton and Meagan were diving off the coast of eastern Australia when they saw a White’s seahorse. Call it good timing, luck, or fate, but the pregnant male was just about to give birth – a sight that is both mesmerizing and cringe-worthy. Other than pipefish, seahorses are the only known males in the animal kingdom to incubate and birth offspring. At the time of fertilization, the female seahorse deposits her eggs into the male’s gestational pouch. Two to four weeks later, the eggs hatch, and the father gives birth to anywhere from 100 to 1,000 babies. But don’t take my word for it – this is a sight you truly have to see for yourself.  Read more: http://www.wimp.com/diver-captures-rare-footage-pregnant-male-seahorse-giving-birth/

Wimp Movie Night: Big Hero 6

Advertisement Bored on Friday night? We have you covered. Welcome to Wimp Movie Night, where each week we suggest a family friendly film for your viewing pleasure. This week’s film is 2014’s Disney superhero adventure Big Hero 6. Review:  Animated films often get a bad wrap as being just for children, but Big Hero 6 is closer to the grown up all ages entertainment of Pixar than your standard fluffy kids flick. Without falling victim to pop culture references or fart gags, the film builds a clever science fiction universe that’s equally heartfelt and thrilling. The film tells the story of Hiro, a young robotics prodigy who, following a tragedy, befriends one of his older brother’s robotic experiments. Together they fight a powerful super villain, save the world, and learn an important lesson on revenge.  It’s a standard action movie plot that rises above cliches thanks to a sharp sense of humor, thrilling action set pieces and a developed emotional center that will resonate with adults without traumatizing younger viewers.  Advertisement Tumblr The relationship between Baymax, a medical robot who’s unprepared for combat due to being a walking super durable balloon, and the mourning Hiro is a source of great comic relief and touching catharsis. It’s a rare feat for a film that features deadly nanobots to make you consider the memories that hold us close to loved ones we’ve lost in the past, but Big Hero 6 manages with flying colors. Then, right before things get too serious, it throws you an adorable robot playing with a cat.  Tumblr Advertisement As the story evolves, Hiro puts together a superhero team to fight the main villain, made up of his older brother’s friends from an advanced science academy. The group features characters across every gender and race without relegating anyone to stereotypes or forced romances. Unlike big budget noise fests like the Transformers films, Big Hero 6 perfectly meshes characters you care about with bombastic science fiction action. My wife and I are both in our thirties, with no kids, and had a blast visiting this universe.  Tumblr Content:  Advertisement Hiro is an orphan and experiences the death of another character as the film goes along. Death is a traumatic experience, but not in a way that will scare young children. The film’s battles between our heroes and the supervillain Yokai are intense, full of fire, explosions, and near death experiences, but are bloodless. Big Hero 6’s PG rating is entirely from the intensity of the action and thematic elements.  Tumblr Can You Stream It:  As fo 11/13/15 the film is available to stream via Starz Play, which requires support from your cable company. To see if the app works on your streaming device check their website. It is also available for rental from iTunes, Redbox, Vudu, and other major streaming sites.  Gizmodo Will Adults Like It:  Yes. At the moment, the film holds an 89% Fresh rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. The mature handling of its darker elements creates a real world for viewers to […]

This Violin Sounds A Lot Like A Car Alarm

Researchers have said that it takes 10,000 hours of work to master any skill. Whether it’s a sport, an art or a musical instrument, being successful takes hard work. Britaney Gaither knows that lesson very well. She has spent much of her young life playing violin and striving to get better each day. As she has gotten better, people have started to notice. In 2008, she started a YouTube channel named after herself and uploaded a video of her playing “Theme of Love” from “Final Fantasy IV.” It immediately became a hit and gathered over 100,000 views. Ever since then, Britaney has entertained her loyal YouTube audience by performing classical pieces of music as well as themes from television shows, movies and games.  On January 21, 2010, Britaney shared this special and hilarious video. In it, she attempts to imitate the sound of a car alarm. She more than succeeds. In fact, her imitation is so accurate that if you did a blind test, it would be almost impossible to tell the two apart. This trick wasn’t just something she decided to do off the cuff, it was a process years in the making. As Britaney puts it, “I learned how to do this when I was in the 5th grade..out of pure boredom due to it being the summer. I would sit next to my parent’s car and press the panic button over and over again until I learn this.” As far as alarm-themed string performances go, this may be one of the best of all time. A Parent’s Surprising Approach To Combat Bullying

10-year-old Kaylee Lindstrom is a self-described “4th grade fashionista.” There’s nothing wrong with being stylish at a young age, but Kaylee’s parents were horrified to learn that their fashion-forward daughter was also guilty of bullying other kids at school about their wardrobes. After hearing about how she teased another girl about her clothes, Kaylee’s step-mother, Ally, decided to opt out of the traditional grounding and got a little more creative with her punishment. She took Kaylee to a thrift store and told her to find the absolutely ugliest dresses she could find. Kaylee thought it was a blast picking out these horrendous fashion crimes … until she learned that she had been shopping for herself! For the next two days, she was made to wear the ugly thrift store clothes to school, where she got to experience for herself what it’s like to be teased about something so superficial. It was a valuable lesson that Kaylee is now grateful for. She later apologized to the girl she had bullied and the two are now close friends. This guy makes parkour look so cool

Parkour always blows my mind. Gymnastics seems intimidating enough, so bouncing off the walls and railings of the real world with no padding or safety measures seems impossible. Erik Mukhametshin dominates gravity in this video and pulls off some insane stunts. Reminder: do not try this at home … or at the park, the office complex, the parking garage, or anywhere else. The Man In The Red Bandanna

I’ll keep this short because Welles Remy Crowther’s actions speak louder than any words. When you remember 9/11, whether it’s today, tomorrow, the 20-year anniversary or beyond, don’t remember the violence. Don’t remember the hate that caused it. Remember the actions of this man and others like him, who showed the true face of humanity in the midst of that incredible tragedy. Don’t bring up this day if you’re looking to blame someone. Focus on the lessons these incredible acts can teach us. Read more: http://www.wimp.com/man-red-bandana-family-son-nine-eleven/
