Bikers Stand Tough Against Child Abuse

Imagine that you are a child who has been hurt, neglected, or abused. You’re feeling alone, betrayed, and most of all, afraid. Someone has committed a crime against you, and statistically speaking, it was probably someone you knew and thought you could trust. Your day in court is coming, and terrifyingly, the adults in your life have been called as witnesses and will not be allowed inside the courtroom. It is a heart-wrenching situation that no child should ever have to be in, but it’s a reality that must be dealt with. That’s where Bikers Against Child Abuse International steps in. Although they may look tough and burly, these soft-hearted men and women have one mission in mind: protect and support children. BACA will never physically harm or instigate a perpetrator, but other than that, they will do whatever’s necessary. Whether it means standing guard outside a child’s window for days on end, riding miles to appear with a child in court, providing escorts to school, or just being a friend, BACA is all in. If you or someone you know could use support from BACA, you can find more information here. They only work with cases that have been reported to the authorities, but as soon as a liaison confirms the case, the closest BACA members will ride to meet the child in question. In extreme cases, they’ll even bring the whole crew. As you’ll see in the video below, they are real-life superheroes. Behold The ‘Tower Of Building Dreams’

Beijing really upped the bar for opening ceremonies when they hosted the 2008 Summer Olympics. Their dazzling performance relied on China’s most abundant resource: its people. With 1.36 billion people, the collective-focused nation has a long and storied history of accomplishing grand projects with more than a little manpower. Unsurprisingly, the 2014 Nanjing Youth Olympics had an equally dazzling opening ceremony, with the showstopping choreography entitled “Tower of Building Dreams,” a combination of beautiful syncronization and complex wire acrobatics, creating an undulating, morphing, human-powered tower of light. “Seven Nation Army” played on floppy discs

There are a handful of cover songs better than the originals – Aretha Franklin’s “Respect,” The Beatles’ “Twist and Shout,” and Jeff Buckley’s “Hallelujah,” to name a few. But nothing compares to this cover of The White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army” performed by old floppy disc drives. Read more: http://www.wimp.com/seven-nation-army-played-on-floppy-discs/

The Star Wars theme sounds amazing in this acoustic guitar cover

It’s one of the most iconic scores of all time, but hearing this musician render the Star Wars theme in a Spanish guitar style will have you listening to it in a whole new way. Sure, the original sounds grandiose when played by a full orchestra, but there’s something equally beautiful about this pared down version. If Don Quixote ever gets a futuristic reboot, this is definitely the right song for the trailer.  Read more: http://www.wimp.com/the-star-wars-theme-sounds-amazing-in-this-acoustic-guitar-cover/

Man Converts Truck Into A Mobile Home Castle

In recent years, the tiny house movement has been increasingly present in the public consciousness. Spurred on by a variety of factors, such as downsizing their carbon footprint or cutting out their mortgage payment, many folks have ditched their big, traditional homes and opted instead for one with minimal space. The typical tiny home is anywhere from 100 to 400 square feet. While many of these homes stay in one place like any traditional home, others are made to move. Similar to regular mobile homes, they’re living spaces on wheels, but tiny homes tend to be incredibly personalized and homey, with hardwood floors, customized decor and more. This one, though, really takes the cake! Read more: http://www.wimp.com/new-zealand-mobile-home-truck-castle/

Navigating A Charter Bus Through A Rock Tunnel On Needles Highway

Back in 2009, YouTuber fortnighte was on a vacation with his family visiting the area around Rapid City, South Dakota, when he recorded this video that’s been a viral sensation ever since. One of the attractions around that area is South Dakota Highway 87, more popularly known as Needles Highway due to the hairpin turns and the barely single-lane roadways that thread through several granite “needles,” which are narrow tunnels blasted out of the mountains, creating sheer granite walls on both sides. As he was visiting Custer State Park, which Needles Highway winds through, he saw a charter bus near the entrance of one of the famously narrow granite tunnels. Being a bus driver himself, he stopped to record the seemingly-impossible feat, fearing that the bus would get stuck at any minute. Luckily, this bus wasn’t being driven by an ordinary mortal and slowly but surely, it actually manages to come through!  Due to the extremely narrow, winding roads, Needles Highway is used almost exclusively by sightseers and access to the highway actually requires a Custer State Park entrance license. Based on that, I’d venture to guess that this wasn’t this bus driver’s first rodeo on this road. Read more: http://www.wimp.com/bus-driver-navigates-impossibly-narrow-mountain-road/

Couple Has An Extremely Unlikely Family

When David and Julie met, luck seemed in their favor. It was a blind date but it led to love, marriage and, eventually, a sizeable baby carriage. After their marriage in 2012, David and Julie tried for nearly two years to get pregnant before turning to fertility treatments. The St. George, Utah, couple really wanted a child of their own but instead they were blessed with triplets in March 2014. Unusually, two of the triplets are identical twins, which ended up causing a little scare in the womb. The twins developed a condition known as twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome, a potentially deadly situation where one baby is receiving too much blood from the mother and the other not enough. A successful surgery resolved that issue and Abraham, Brady and Christian were born healthy, if a little premature. But this isn’t a story about those triplets. It’s about the unlikely surprise that awaited them seven months later. David and Julie were smitten from the beginning. They were happily surprised by the news of triplets, and Julie certainly rocked that baby bump. The triplets overcame quite a bit in their earliest days but were clearly strong little troopers. And David and Julie certainly had their hands full. But their family wasn’t done growing, and without any further treatment, it only took a month of trying for this surprising result. And not just a natural pregnancy, but twins! And girls! Emily and Eliza were born just a bit more than a year later. We’re guessing the expression on that little guy’s face there is how his parents sometimes feel when faced with managing this many infants, but they still consider every single one a blessing. At least birthdays will be pretty efficient. Via: Little Things | Julie Gryglia Read more: http://www.wimp.com/after-ivf-triplets-surprise-twins/

The Art Of One Stroke Painting

One stroke painting isn’t exactly what it sounds like. Rather than an entire painting done with one stroke, in this method each stroke of the brush produces fine detail in the image. Shading, depth, and definition are all achieved at the same time, without the need to go over the same parts of the image repeatedly. It’s a delicate and complicated art which requires forethought to properly plain. Marvel as each simple stroke slowly unveils a gorgious work of art.  Read more: http://www.wimp.com/one-stroke-painting/
