The Bob Ross Of Glass Blowing Wants To Show You How It’s Done

Bob Ross is beloved for taking the art of painting and breaking it down into easy-to-understand steps for beginners. Now a glass blower named Will Shakespeare is here to follow in Ross’ educational footsteps, only you’ll want to be a little more careful trying out this art form. Over the course of five minutes Shakespeare manipulates a molten glob of glass as he colors, shapes and taps the formless mass into a beautiful vase. He makes it look easy but his ease is a product of years of practice. It would take us much longer to accomplish something a quarter this good. This is what Schizophrenia feels like

Schizophrenia is a serious mental disorder that affects over 200,000 people in the U.S. alone. With symptoms that include hallucinations, hearing voices, and paranoia, it can be difficult for us to understand what schizophrenic people experience on a daily basis. So, in what he calls an “exercise in empathy,” Anderson Cooper volunteered to try a schizophrenia simulator. Here’s what happened. Get Inspired By This Montage Of People Crushing It At Work

They say if you do something you love you’ll never work a day in your life. If that adage is true then the people in this montage have been on vacation for years. You might recognize a few of these craft masters from previous Wimp articles (hey Shwarma guy!) but they all have one thing in common, crushing it at work. We’re inspired. Hopefully by this time next week our staff will be writing while spinning our laptops on one knee.  Read more: http://www.wimp.com/montage-of-people-crushing-it-at-work/

A Natural Way To Make Your Grill Non-Stick

What’s your favorite part about summer? For many people, it’s grilling. There’s no better way to cook your food than grilling it, a lot of people would agree.  But apart from the great food, gathering with friends and family for outdoor barbecues is a lot of fun. When you’re just trying to eat, relax and spend quality time with the people you love, one of the most annoying things that can happen is getting food stuck on the grill. It’s also one of the most common pet peeves of grilling, but it is preventable. All you need is a potato. Most people will try to oil their grill over and over to prevent sticking. But that’s not going to do the trick. (deployads = window.deployads || []).push({}); The best way is to use a potato. Cut a potato in half and stab it with a fork. Make sure that the cut side is facing downwards. After the grill heats up, rub the cut side of the potato back and forth over the grill. After a few times, you’ll hear a sizzling sound. Perfect. (deployads = window.deployads || []).push({}); This works great because the starch is pulled from the potato. It creates a barrier between the food and the grill, and also doesn’t involve any harmful chemical greasing sprays. Reapply each time you cookout and you’ll never have to worry about food getting stuck on the grill again. Remember to SHARE this helpful tip with your family and friends. Elderly Couple Recalls How Bride’s Wedding Dress Was Made From A Parachute Due To Wartime Rationing

Back during WWII, Americans were part of what is known today as the “Greatest Generation.” That generation helped shape society into what it is today. They built roads and hospitals, fought and won wars, and their general resourcefulness and ingenuity led to America being hailed as a global superpower. It wasn’t just the men who took part in the war – women played key roles too. Many women of that era filled up the now-vacant manufacturing jobs, where they were a vital asset in helping to supply the war effort. During the war and in the several years that followed, Americans were asked to make sacrifice a way of life – almost all essential supplies like textiles, metals, and various foods were heavily rationed, as those items were needed to supply soldiers on the front lines with uniforms, weapons and meals. It seems a far cry from the excesses we enjoy today, but back then you had to be really savvy to make the most out of limited resources. 71 years ago, a young soldier named Edwin Morgan returned safely from the war, only to be hit by Cupid’s arrow and fall in love with the girl next door, Betty. As the couple prepared for the upcoming nuptials on a limited budget, Betty wasn’t sure if she would be able to afford a wedding dress since fabrics were still scarce. Thankfully, Betty’s mother-in-law came through with a novel idea – why not make the dress from a German parachute that Edwin had taken as a souvenir during the war? With some work by a skilled tailor, the parachute was successfully turned into a wedding gown and – years later – into one heck of a story.
