No, this isn’t a sound from the latest Jurassic Park movie and it’s not a noise from the set of E.T. It’s from Tribble, the more than adorable kitty cat who has become famous for her unique purr. Tribble’s purr has been compared to everything from Star Trek characters, a toy car and even a Gremlin. It’s OK to feed her after midnight though. Tribble was taken back to the shelter two times before finally finding a loving home. If you are interested in rescuing a cat of your own, you can find more information here. What is it about dogs that just instantly brings a smile to my face? Don’t get me wrong, cats have plenty of hilarious moments too, but dogs just seem to always be doing something fun. In case you hadn’t guessed it, I’m definitely on #TeamDog – partially due to cat allergies, but mostly just due to preference. I love dogs of all sizes, from the tiny little teacup Yorkies to big ol’ Mastiffs, but I will say I tend to prefer a smaller dog, just because they’re more manageable in my opinion. One of the funniest dogs that I can think of is the dachshund, also known as the “wiener dog” due to their small bodies and elongated torsos which make them look a bit like a sausage with legs. Their bodies are pretty comical-looking, but they were bred with a purpose – to scent, chase and flush out burrowing animals like badgers, rabbits and other small prey. In fact, the name “dachshund” derives from the German word “dachs” (badger) and “hund” (hound/dog), literally translating to “badger dog.” In this Heinz Ketchup commercial for the upcoming Super Bowl, the company decided to make use of the pun involving the dog’s nickname and literally dressed up several dachshunds as hot dogs, turning them into literal wiener dogs. The dogs excitedly run to their handlers, who are all dressed in costumes displaying a variety of Heinz condiments, implying that hot dogs and Heinz are a natural pairing. Personally, I love a good hot dog, but this ad made me want to frolic in that with field with those puppies more than anything else. A group of programmers trained a computer to add color to black and white images. Now, watch what happens when the same neural network attempts to color black-and-white footage of The Beatles performing their hit song, “I Want To Hold Your Hand.” The result is a surreal music video that The Beatles definitely would have enjoyed. Water. It’s the lifeblood of Earth and our most important resource for survival. Sometimes, however, we tend to take it for granted. We waste huge amounts of water every day and don’t really think of the consequences. You don’t have to be a water sommelier to learn how to conserve some H2O every now and then. Maybe you can take some advice from this parrot who is more excited about a few drops of water than any environmentalist I’ve ever seen. His name is Loki, and he is a Rainbow Lorikeet. While he may share a name with a Marvel supervillain, he is the sweetest little bird you could ever hope to find. Aside from being ridiculously cute, Loki possesses a unique quirk that has captured the hearts of many. Every time he hears his owner pour a bit of water, he jumps up and down and performs a little dance. Maybe it’s his own version of a rain dance, or maybe he just can’t contain his excitement at the possibility of drinking some water. Either way, it is a joy to watch. Is Loki the best animal dancer we’ve ever seen? He’d have to compete with these festive owls and this high-stepping horse. In the end, though, I think I would have to give the win to Loki, but just so I could see what his victory dance looks like. Be sure to SHARE this adorable video with your friends and family.
