Cyclist Finds Abandoned Dog “Ten Miles From The Nearest Anything”

The strong bond that exist between humans and dogs is entirely undeniable. Since dogs were domesticated thousands of years ago, they have been worthy of their reputation as “man’s best friend.” This unconditional love goes both ways; people would search for years for their pup if they’re lost and dogs depend entirely, without question, on their humans for affection and care. Sadly, though, not all people can be counted on to do right by the pups they find in their care. This fact is made all too clear by bicyclist James McHugh’s unexpected discovery, made while taking a long bike ride along rural roads. “Ten miles from the nearest anything,” McHugh spied something on the side of the road: the box that ended up containing a tiny pup. The short video makes it clear that lack of affection and sweet disposition certainly weren’t the reasons for her harsh abandonment. Although he was in the middle of nowhere with only the clothes on his back and a bike, McHugh still figured out a way to bring this adorable girl back home with him.  Through this video, McHugh implored people to get in touch with him if they recognized her. Sadly, McHugh shared that “nobody claimed her, but I’ve had people from all corners of the globe calling/emailing asking to adopt her.” In the end, this pup didn’t have to make a long journey after the one she already went on with McHugh to get back to safety; she found a forever home with one of McHugh’s neighbors, who named her Luna. While he wanted to keep her himself, McHugh already has two rescue dogs; letting her find a happy, healthy life with his neighbor is probably the next best thing, though! Michael Flatley’s Iconic Final Riverdance Performance

The Irish dance phenomenon known as “Riverdance” still lives on nearly 22 years after its creation. Today, it stands as a production larger than life, having toured all over the world introducing Irish dance to people who would have never thought they’d love it so much. But behind the delightful music, complex choreography, and dazzling lights, there was one man who started it all: Michael Flatley. Born and raised on the south side of Chicago, Michael started taking dance lessons at the young age of 11. His parents were both Irish immigrants, and his heritage has always been a part of his work. Michael’s hard work and talent were finally realized at age 17 when he became the first American to ever win a title at the World Irish Dance Competition. On top of his accomplished dance career, Michael was also a skilled flutist and boxer. It only seems natural that this young man, so full of talent and pride in his heritage, would go on to create something like Riverdance, which combines all of his passions into one beautiful work of art. The clip you’re about to watch is Michael’s final performance with Riverdance in 1995. Creative differences and money issues contributed to the producers’ decision to cut Flatley from the show, making many fans view this as “The Final Performance of Riverdance.” While he was immediately replaced by highly-skilled dancer Colin Dunne, Riverdance would never be the same. Michael Flatley went on to create even more shows centered around Irish music and dance, most notably, “Lords of the Dance.” In fact, Michael continued dancing until two days ago, March 18th, 2016, when he officially announced his retirement. The years of dancing took a massive toll on his body, and the only course of action seemed to be to step away from the stage. It was a bittersweet moment for fans and colleagues alike, but Michael’s legacy will live on as the man who inspired a generation of people to love and appreciate Irish dance just as much as he did.  H/T: 3276aj Read more: http://www.wimp.com/michael-flatley-final-riverdance-performance/

Baboon Is Amazed By Man’s Magic Trick

It doesn’t matter what age you are or where you come from, it is impossible not to appreciate a good magic trick. Talented magicians know how to set you up for one result, and then completely shatter your expectations. Magic is more than just tricks, it’s an attack on everything you thought of how the world is supposed to work. That’s why David Copperfield has performed to sold out shows for decades, and every high school talent show features at least one amateur illusionist.  As we find out in this video, the allure of magic isn’t limited to just us humans; even baboons know a good trick when they see one. On a recent trip to the local zoo, one man got the bright idea to perform a trick for one of the baboons in the primate exhibit. Once he got the attention of a particularly curious baboon, he pulled off the classic disappearing card trick. While the trick itself is basic in terms of illusions, it’s the baboon’s reaction that has taken the Internet by storm.  As soon as the primate sees what happened, he doubles over in laughter and can’t believe his eyes. Sometimes, as this animal tells us, when something happens in life that you can’t explain, the best thing to do is laugh. If only this baboon was in the audience for every magic show, I would go to all of them.  H/T: AFVMobile Read more: http://www.wimp.com/baboon-is-amazed-by-mans-magic-trick/
