Katy Perry’s Victorian Dreams Go Up in Flames in ‘Unconditionally’

, , , , , , ,

Katy Perry has found an era that suits her perfectly — Victorian. The pop star went retro-chic in a visually stunning music video for power ballad “Unconditionally,” the second single from her “Prism” album. There are gowns, snow, pearls, flower petals, an owl, underwater scenes and a bed on fire — so nothing really out of the ordinary for Perry. Yes, unconditional love sometimes feels like being hit by a car… Or being on fire… How does it feel to you? — Katy Perry (@katyperry) November 20, 2013 The singer recently told MTV that this music video would be a departure from her other videos because it “doesn’t have a complete narrative.” “I usually have quite a big story line,” she said. “This time I wanted to give a lot of gorgeous, beautiful looks, which I don’t usually go for. But it’s mostly just a beautiful video that is supposed to evoke this power of love.” Mission accomplished, Katy. Fan-Made ‘Game of Thrones’ Prequel Looking for Kickstarter Funding

, , ,

Hard-core fans of HBO’s popular series Game of Thrones want to create a web-based prequel, and need your help to make it a reality. A new Kickstarter project unaffiliated with HBO or George R.R. Martin — the author of the books on which the series is based — aims to create a pilot episode for a new web series that takes place 100 years prior to the events currently shown on Game of Thrones. Called “Dunk and Egg,” the series would occur in Martin’s fantasy world, but would include story lines from his prequel, The Hedge Knight. “Our labor of love will explore the legend and lore of Martin’s ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ and will give fans a glimpse into the harsh medieval world of Westeros,” the Kickstarter page says. “This is a series for fans, made by fans.” The team says it has been working to finish the pilot episode, but needs help funding the battle scene. “We have been working extremely hard for several months to complete a pilot for ‘Dunk and Egg,’ and are ready for our biggest undertaking yet … a battle,” the page says. “We want the battle to feel authentic. As fans, we’re all working for free on this project, and getting realistic armor, costumes, swords, animals, etc. is incredibly expensive. We’ve done as much as we can, now we need your help.” The project has already brought in more than $3,000 with the help of 65 backers. It has three weeks left to reach its goal of $10,000. Smaller pledges will get supporters a soundtrack and Blu-Ray copy of the pilot, while bigger donors will receive walk-on roles, props and a co-executive producer credit in the show. This Tiny Dog Can’t Get Enough Of This Carnival’s Huge Slide

, , , , , , , , , , , ,

There’s nothing more enjoyable than a county fair or carnival. It just amazes me how they can fit so much food and festivities into one place. Most carnivals even allow pets to walk around the fair grounds, so that your fur babies can partake in all that sweet, sweet fun. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DCBP_ATF’); }); And boy do they soak it all up. This four-legged friend was recorded living his best life while taking a trip (or three) down a gigantic carnival slide. Lucky for this pooch, it was a slow day and he could continuously scramble up the stairs to the top and slide down, getting the greatest amount of joy without having to worry about long lines. I don’t think I’ve ever been as excited about anything as much as this dog is. Read more: http://www.viralnova.com/doggy-slide/

Just When You Thought The Mantis Shrimp Couldn’t Get Crazier, This Happens

, , , , , , , , , ,

The mantis shrimp, if you’re not familiar, is one of the deadliest ocean creatures in its weight class. Your average adult is around 10 inches long and has claws that really pack a punch. Some species of mantis shrimp smash prey with claws that can literally strike with the force of a bullet fired at close range. Other species of mantis shrimp, however, are “spearers.” This means that they wait for unsuspecting fish to swim over their burrows and then, WHAM! They strike out with their claws and grab their prey. It’s a lot more brutal than it sounds. (via Reddit) Nature is intense, and so is the guy who owns this mantis shrimp. Think about it. He’s buying all of these expensive tropical fish so that he can put them inside the tank with his mantis shrimp. That’s twisted. Read more: http://www.viralnova.com/mantis-shrimp-spear/

Relive Fall in Central Park With Time-Lapse Video

, , , , ,

Anyone who has been to New York’s Central Park in the fall can attest to the impressive display of color against the steel and glass of the city. Sure, we’ve all seen time-lapse videos. But there is something truly magical about this one by filmmaker, Jamie Scott. Many of the transitions move across the field of view from left to right, as if the color is being chased down by the shadow of winter. Scott said he chose 15 locations in the park and then revisited them two days a week for six months. If the lighting appears similar, it’s because all of the shots were taken just after sunrise. This Insanely Freaky-Looking UFO Was Spotted In The Skies Over Minnesota

, , , , , , , , , , ,

Many videos of “UFOs” can be explained away as airplanes or weather balloons, but this footage taken in the fall of 2013 in Minnesota doesn’t look like anything that could immediately be described as man-made. At first, it appears to be your standard UFO affair, but then the lights start morphing and changing. Suddenly you’re right there with the Minnesota woman when she exclaims, “Freakin’ freaky!” Apparently this thing can be seen daily in Aitkin County, Minnesota. So if it isn’t a UFO, what is it? Some kind of crazy firework? Many believe it’s just the moon through some branches, but one YouTube commenter claims that she took the video and there weren’t any trees in the way. What do you think?
