As the White House opens its gardens and grounds to the public for fall tours, some Instagram users will get an exclusive visit this weekend. Selected Instagrammers will have the chance on Sunday to tour the grounds and track their excursion on social media, the White House announced Monday. The tour is intended specifically for the White House’s Instagram followers. To apply for a spot in the meet-up, applicants must follow either @WhiteHouse or @MichelleObama on Instagram and fill out a short form on the White House’s website. Those chosen or put on the wait list will be emailed by Wednesday. In the meantime, applicants are encouraged to post their favorite nature and garden photos on Instagram with the hashtag #WHInstaMeet. The same hashtag will be used on the day of the tour, so all Instagram users can virtually follow along. So far, more than 400 photos have been tagged on Instagram with #WHInstaMeet. While the spots in Sunday’s White House Instagram tour are available through application only, the garden is free and open to the public during its fall tour season. Visitors must have tickets, which are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Sometimes love can be a little too fast and furious. Forty-four-year-old Misty Lee Wilke had been having an active sexual relationship with an unidentified man, and as things continued to get serious she suspected things would only get better from there. That all changed when an argument between the couple led to the reveal that the man was HIV-positive. While Wilke ensure police that the man had laughed at her after revealing the news, and even took out a knife to try and attack her, surveillance footage reveals that Wilke put the pedal to the metal to seek revenge against her former lover. The man can be seen leaving the altercation on his bicycle, when Wilke, in a red Mustang, can be seeing speeding toward him. Youtube / Inside Edition Wilke then proceeded to collide with her ex-lover, sending him flying into the air as she drove away. Youtube / Inside Edition It took Wilke nearly a half an hour to report the hit and run to police, insisting she didn’t mean to hit the man. Near-death experiences can be harrowing for both onlookers and the lucky soul who survives. A bus was driving down the street when its dash cam recorded something incredible. Just as it passed a construction site, a crane began to fall…with innocent passers by on the sidewalk. Wait for the 0:26 mark… He was seconds away from a very bad situation. If you live in a major city and have to walk beneath scaffolding and cranes, you might think that the construction causes countless deaths every year (if you are exceptionally paranoid, anyway). However, according to these crane accident statistics, “a world wide total of 86 incidents involving the collapse or major structural failure of a tower crane have been identified as taking place between 1989 and 2009.” But that doesn’t mean this guy wasn’t any less lucky! Automaker Renault unveiled a new electric car designed to counter perceptions that eco-friendly vehicles can’t be fun. The Twin’Z, which made its first appearance at the Salon Internazionale del Mobile, echoes naturally occurring forms in its design and can travel as fast as 50 mph. The compact Twin’Z is modeled after more conventional city cars. Image courtesy of Renault Design. Body painting is an art form that is totally underappreciated. Thanks to the weekend that I binge-watched every episode of Skin Wars, I know how difficult it is to create an illusion using just makeup and paint. Even harder than painting an intricate design, making a body completely disappear into a background is one of the trickiest things for an artist to master. Add if you’re using yourself as the model, well, it’s nearly impossible. But talented body painter Mirjana Kika Milosevic has done all of that, and she’s taking the idea of your stomach being in knots to a whole new level. Check out each step of the amazing (but kind of creepy) transformation below. Read More: Body Marbling Is The Newest Body Art Trend, And You Have To See It In Action I would love to be able to paint like that! Let us know in the comments what you’d like to see this artist tackle next, and be sure to share her incredible illusion with your friends. Read more: http://www.viralnova.com/stomach-in-knots/
Organic foods and beverage maker Clif Bar is launching what it claims is the first geo-location Twitter campaign. The company wants you to send a geo-tagged tweet to @CLIFMojoGo the next time you’re in a park, at the beach or on a trail. Once the company has verified you are indeed outdoors, it will send you instructions to claim a free trail mix bar. You’ll also be entered to win a Garmin GPS watch and other prizes. Twitter does allow advertisers to target users in 210 U.S. regions, but doesn’t allow them to target users in specific locations — for example, in parks or at the mall. Clif Bar’s strategy, though labor intensive — they’ll have to verify the location of the tweets manually — is a clever workaround.
