GBS is a disorder wherein your immune system attacks your nervous system. People describe the symptoms as weakness or tingling beginning in the legs and spreading to the arms and upper body. Eventually, paralysis occurs and complications can arise from being unable to breathe, blood clots and more. The syndrome can affect anyone, although it is rare. While there is no cure, treatments exist to help patients return to normal in anywhere from a few weeks to a few years.
