Of all the Jewish holidays that happen throughout the year, Hanukkah is one of the most well known. Sometimes written as Chanukah or Ḥanukah, the holiday celebrates the rededication of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem at the time of the Maccabean Revolt. The celebrations traditionally involved the progressive lighting of a menorah on each night of Hanukkah.
Hanukkah traditions usually call for the consumption of latkes during the festivities, but the principles of their faith require that certain foods be avoided throughout the year. However, store-bought foods frequently contain a mishmash of hard-to-decipher ingredients. To help make things a bit simpler, the labeling system in this video was developed so that people have fewer issues when trying to eat kosher.
