Olympians Wouldn’t Be Where They Are Today Without Their Mothers
Where would we be without our mothers? While both parents are instrumental in raising a child, I think it’s safe to say that we all have a special connection with our mothers from the beginning. After carrying us for nine months, our mothers finally give birth and immediately provide us with the nourishment we need to survive. How cool is that? With Mother’s Day about a week away, it’s the perfect time to reflect on everything that our moms do for us.
Mothers take care of their children in big ways, like working to pay for food and shelter, and small ways, like reading a story before bed. One of the most special things my mother ever did for me happened when I was in kindergarten. Upon seeing how nervous I was to leave her, my mom would drive an extra loop around the school before dropping me off. It didn’t matter if it made her late – she understood how important those few extra minutes were to me, and I know she would do it again in a heartbeat.
Recently, Proctor & Gamble released a video in honor of the mothers who raised this summer’s Olympians. These athletes are among the best in the world, but none of them would be where they are today without a supportive mother. Even when we don’t believe in ourselves, our moms never lose faith. This Mother’s Day, remember to say “thank you” to your mom for everything she does for you.
