A Little Girl Takes Her First Aerobatic Flight And Her Reaction Is Wonderful
It might seem like something that could traumatize a child for life against flying. Soaring into the air in a tiny private plane can be a pretty startling experience, even for an adult who is used to taking off in commercial airliners. But it turns out that with the right introduction, childhood is the best time to introduce your family to the passion of flying. Even aerobatics is, as this video from Canadian pilot Raphael Langumier shows, an immensely enjoyable experience for a youngster.
The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association has the following recommendations for flying with children:
- Start early.
- Start with a short flight.
- Observe safety precautions to the letter. (Like you see with little Lea in the video, she’s got hearing protection and she’s properly buckled into a safety harness.)
- Talk to your kids before you ever take off. Show them how planes fly, take them to the airport or an airshow.
While this is Lea’s first aerobatic flight, this is likely not her first time in the air and definitely not her first experience with a plane. Her father is a test pilot and certified aerobatics instructor with over 8,000 hours of flight experience. That’s nearly a full year spent up in the air. But he’s not the only one in the family who spends a lot of time off the ground. Lea’s mother is a flight attendant. Clearly this little girl was born with wings.
