Meet The 14-Year-Old Homeowner
What were you doing at 14? I can’t even remember, but I certainly wasn’t doing anything like Willow Tufano. At only 14 years of age, the young entrepreneur was already into her first home. She didn’t stop there, though. She bought a second, and made a lot of waves as “America’s youngest landlord.” She’s since moved on from the real estate business, having sold both homes to give her more flexibility as she pursues her education, but the story of how she arrived at that point at such a young age is remarkable.
It all started with Craigslist. The service is popular among many people looking for a deal on furniture, electronics, cars, and more. It’s important to be careful; there are plenty of scammers out there. It helps that Willow began by mining the “free” section of the site, where getting quality goods is often simply a matter of making it to someone’s front yard before everyone else.
Willow managed to turn being quick on the Craigslist draw into a career, eventually earning enough money to purchase the aforementioned houses. At 14, she needed her mom’s help in buying the home. We’ll let Willow tell that story in her own words on Ellen.
