Why Do Leaves Change Color?
Just about everyone loves it when the air gets crisp and leaves begin to change color, from green to an array of brilliant hues, from bright red, to bright yellow. Eventually, those leaves fall down, and while not all of us enjoy raking them up, most of us enjoy the next part.
But most of us go through life blissfully unaware of the reason behind the change in color. We know it signals the change in seasons, but what’s really going on? This video from science channel MinuteEarth does a great job of explaining. Turns out, it’s nature’s way of recycling, but it’s way more complex than that.
