At some point, we’ve all had that fantasy of abandoning society and living off the grid. I’ve always dreamed of having my own personal island, but I’ve never entertained the idea that it could actually be done. I couldn’t be more wrong, though. They began building their own sustainable home off the coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. And after 24 years of hard work and dedication, they have an incredible floating home that’s aptly called Freedom Cove. Although they’re not totally off the grid, their lifestyle is different than what we’re used to. In this picture, it looks like they live on the side of a mountain, which would already be enviable. Amsterdam’s waterways attract thousands of tourists to the city every year, but for one mother and child, these attractions almost proved to be deadly. The woman’s car somehow ended up in one of the canals, and if they didn’t get help quickly, she and her child would surely have suffered. Lucky for them, one man didn’t hesitate to step up and save the day. After he jumped into the canal, a few more men followed. Check out the daring rescue mission in the video below. Helping the community, solving crimes, these duties are just part of the work…but no one said they had to take time out of their busy and sometimes dangerous days to do this. Recently, these neighborhood kids were battling the summer heat by playing with water guns in their yard when all of the sudden, officers from the Dixon PD attacked them — with more water guns!
