What His GoPro Captured During This Ride Is Terrifying…He’s Lucky To Be Alive

, , , , , , , , , ,

googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DTAT_ATF’); }); Attaching your GoPro camera to your helmet while you do extreme sports is the cool new thing. Getting to check out a first-person perspective of your adventures after the fact is kind of incredible when you think about it. However, these cameras don’t just capture the cool moments. They also capture the downright scary ones. Take, for example, this helmet GoPro footage from off-road cyclist Parker Goodwin. He was riding with a crew of bikers from Mad Dog Cycles when he crashed. His GoPro captured the whole thing, even his body convulsing for a few minutes afterward. Talk about a close call. (source: Parker Goodwin) Luckily, Goodwin survived his face-to-face encounter with the ground. He wasn’t on the trip alone and his fellow riders were able to get him off the trail in time before anything else could happen. Just imagine if he had been riding by himself that day. Leaked LG Nexus 5 Manual Reveals New Phone Specs

, , , , , , ,

A leaked LG manual for the next-generation Google Nexus 5 smartphone has surfaced online, boasting more than 200 pages of details from wireless charging and camera specs to new design features. According to Android Police, the draft service manual for the LG-D821 smartphone (also known as the Nexus 5) is dense in technical information, charts, diagrams, line drawings and disassembly images. The phone is expected to launch and go on sale later this month, possibly as early as Oct. 14. The Nexus 4 is no longer available for purchase via the Google Play store, which indicates the next-generation device is coming very soon. Although the tech site originally posted the document, it has since been removed following a request from LG. VentureBeat was quick to download and embed the manual before it was removed. You can check it out below: LG D821 manual draft The manual revealed a lot of what has already been speculated about the device, including a 4.95-inch 1080p display, 16GB and 32GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 800 (2.3 GHz) processor. Other listed specs are a 8MP OIS rear camera, 1.3 MP front camera, 2300mAh battery, a MicroSIM slot and NFC technology. Bluetooth 3.0 is listed as a feature, but Bluetooth 4.0 appears in other places throughout the document. A photo, which has also been removed, includes what appears to be a circular earpiece or speaker. The document doesn’t detail which mobile operating system will come with the device, but there’s a good chance it could be the first smartphone to ship with Android 4.4 (KitKat). Travel App Offers ‘Most Comprehensive Guide’ to North Korea

, , , , ,

Traveling to North Korea? There’s an app for that. The number of travel apps on the market increases every day, making it difficult for digital travel companies to stand out. But Uniquely.Travel may have hit a nerve with its focus on guides to controversial destinations. The company’s first app, North Korea Travel, costs 99 cents and is available for iOS and Android. It claims to be “the most comprehensive guide to North Korea ever written,” according to the website — and wants to show you “just how much of North Korea is open to foreigners.” The information in the app was provided in large part by Simon Cockerell of Koryo Tours. Koryo is one of the few companies authorized by the North Korean government to provide tours to foreigners. Although the app includes detailed descriptions about sites and attractions, tourists are limited in what they can do with the information. Although it is possible to enter the country at any time of year, the government decides which destinations are and are not allowed at any given time. The app’s primary purpose appears to be to motivate more tourism to the country: Tour prices and comparisons are available within the app. Uniquely.Travel project manager Chad O’Carroll told the Washington Post the app was developed both for tourists traveling to North Korea and for “armchair travelers.” “We tried to be as transparent as possible about the ethical dilemma involved in travel to North Korea,” O’Carroll told the Post. In April, the Pyongyang marathon allowed amateur foreign runners to participate for the first time, leading to increased interest. North Korea is only the first controversial destination app for the British company, which has plans to launch digital guides for Iran, Burma and Libya by fall 2014. The Small Car That Is Changing Lives For The Disabled

The ability to drive a car may not seem like a big deal, but for some people it’s everything. Able-bodied people can get a license when they’re a teenager and drive until a very old age. But, for those who live with disabilities, the freedom to drive wherever you want is not always a reality. Most cars aren’t designed for wheelchairs, and the ones that are cost a ton of money. Public transit is not any more convenient, and so many disabled people are severely limited when it comes to transportation.  Stacey Zoern was fully aware of this problem and set out to do something about it. One day online, she found a prototype of a wheelchair-accessible car sitting in a warehouse in Hungary. The design of the car impressed her so much that she made it her mission to have the prototype mass produced and sold on the market. Stacey believed that this car, called the Kenguru, would be the best way for disabled people to travel.  Stacey worked tirelessly to turn her dream into reality, but couldn’t find any investors willing to back her. So she turned to people she knew and asked them to help support the Kenguru. Slowly but surely, the funds grew, and before long she was receiving investments of $100,000. Currently, Stacey is hoping to sell around 500 units a year, but she hopes that within 5 years she will be selling upwards of 4,000 vehicles a year. Watch the video below to learn more about Stacey’s inspiring project.  H/T: Kenguru Transporter Read more: http://www.wimp.com/small-car-parking-lot/

By strapping a Coolpix L31 camera to a precious pup by the name of Grizzler, they created a little window into the canine soul. This technology responds to elevations in heart rate and snaps photos whenever Grizzler starts getting excited, allowing us to get a taste of the little wonders that make his day. Called “Heartography,” this process captures photos from a dog’s-eye view whenever Grizzler gets pumped. Here’s a little sampling of what he loves! Beautiful scenery? I feel you, man. YouTube / Nikon Asia Who doesn’t love finding treasure? YouTube / Nikon Asia Making friends is always a blast!
