This Violin Sounds A Lot Like A Car Alarm

Researchers have said that it takes 10,000 hours of work to master any skill. Whether it’s a sport, an art or a musical instrument, being successful takes hard work. Britaney Gaither knows that lesson very well. She has spent much of her young life playing violin and striving to get better each day. As she has gotten better, people have started to notice.

In 2008, she started a YouTube channel named after herself and uploaded a video of her playing “Theme of Love” from “Final Fantasy IV.” It immediately became a hit and gathered over 100,000 views. Ever since then, Britaney has entertained her loyal YouTube audience by performing classical pieces of music as well as themes from television shows, movies and games.

On January 21, 2010, Britaney shared this special and hilarious video. In it, she attempts to imitate the sound of a car alarm. She more than succeeds. In fact, her imitation is so accurate that if you did a blind test, it would be almost impossible to tell the two apart. This trick wasn’t just something she decided to do off the cuff, it was a process years in the making. As Britaney puts it, “I learned how to do this when I was in the 5th grade..out of pure boredom due to it being the summer. I would sit next to my parent’s car and press the panic button over and over again until I learn this.” As far as alarm-themed string performances go, this may be one of the best of all time.
