This Tiny Boat Came Within Inches Of Being Crushed By A Huge Container Ship

, , , , , , , , ,

Driving a boat is harder than it looks on TV or in the movies. Not only do you have to captain the vehicle, you also need to be paying attention to the radar and the radio so that you don’t crash into any nearby ships. You should be aware of the status of the mechanics, too, lest you stall out on the open sea. Crazy things can happen. When a small speedboat’s engine stalled off the New Jersey coast, the people on board found themselves right in the middle of a shipping lane with a humongous container ship bearing down on them. This is seriously tense. (via Reddit) Those people were literally inches from getting run over. The big man upstairs must have been smiling on them that day. Man Sits On Porch With Gun As School Children Walk By And Cops Can’t Do A Damn Thing

Parents in Wichita, Kansas, are concerned after a man has been seen sitting on his porch and holding a gun across the street from an elementary school. The most shocking part? Police can’t do a thing about it. When the image first surfaced online, some claimed the man, who only wants to be known as “Kyle,” was defending his driveway. Supposedly, he’s had problems in the past with people parking in his driveway, particularly during busy school hours. Local news crews caught up with Kyle, who says he is just a hunter who enjoys holding his gun. Um, okay dude. While it’s a disturbing sight for parents, teachers, and kids, Kyle isn’t doing anything that’s not within his second amendment right. In fact, he has even made complaints against parents who have bullied him, including a father who threatened to “cut him,” which also isn’t cool. As of now, the school board says they are aware of the issue, but, like the police, can’t do anything about it. Politics aside, I don’t think any parent would feel comfortable with this man across the street from their young kids’ school. How long will officials wait before taking action? Read More: His Son Was Declared Brain Dead But This Dad Wouldn’t Give Up, So He Pulled A Gun It’s stories like these that make me wonder what kind of world we live in. I can’t bring my shampoo on an airplane, but this guy can freak out students and their families with a weapon? Be sure to SHARE this video with your friends and family to raise awareness about the creepy situation. Read more: http://www.viralnova.com/gun-porch/

Hannibal Buress: The comic who came at Bill Cosby and did not miss

, , , ,

Hannibal Buress at the American Comedy Awards in New York City on April 23, 2014.Image: Brad Barket/Invision/Associated Press LOS ANGELES — It was the cultural equivalent of an action hero walking away from an explosion without looking back: Hannibal Buress has spoken his piece about Bill Cosby, and seems content to leave the billowing mushroom cloud behind. It is simply accepted as fact that Buress’ Oct. 16 standup routine was the tipping point in Cosby’s precipitous public downfall, an organically viral moment that, for reasons no one can quite explain, finally focused our attention on decades of sexual predation accusations while stirring up at least a half-dozen more. But if you thought the 31-year-old comedian would somehow seek to capitalize, or even continue to agitate for a reckoning with Cosby’s past, think again. Most comics toil their whole lives in relative obscurity, waiting for something they do or say to catch fire. Buress got his moment by way of a crude cell phone video. It’s a bit that Buress said he has done dozens of times over several months of public performances, but there was something about the timing of last month’s show in Cosby’s hometown of Philadelphia that piqued the Internet’s interest, emboldening more women to come forward and touching off a media firestorm. Since then, Buress has turned down dozens of interview requests, including one from Mashable. He has largely avoided the topic on his active social media channels, and has not revisited the Cosby situation, at least not in a performance caught on tape, in his 15 standup appearances since. Subtle clues in his Twitter feed hint that the Cosby story might still weigh on his mind, including this YouTube video (below) from Nov. 15, right around the time Cosby was refusing to address the gathering clouds during an interview with NPR. “People have been asking me to comment,” he wrote, then proceeded to “review” the Cracker Barrel meal that he and his crew ate while traveling between venues in an RV. But at about 3:15 in, Buress, who is waxing poetic about the $20 keyboard he just bought, says, “Sometimes we fail in life. That’s OK.” Then, a bleeped-out section. People have been asking me to comment. here it is. https://t.co/BZnZE7BMIZ — Hannibal Buress (@hannibalburess) November 15, 2014 “Delete, delete! That’s an edit,” someone says off-screen while the entire crew laughs heartily. Then, Buress: “That jump-cut is because we said something slanderous. And we won’t tell you who it is, but… don’t want to deal with that at all.” “That” could be any number of things, including pressure Cosby’s attack dog lawyer Martin Singer, or the inevitable blowback from members of the public who still support Cosby. In fact, a week later, Buress seemed to acknowledge just that. The only thing weirder than getting a death threat from a male bodybuilder/stripper on FB is seeing that you have one mutual friend. — Hannibal Buress (@hannibalburess) November 21, 2014 And then hitting that one friend up and […]

Ukraine Crisis Close to Civil War, Russian Foreign Minister Says

, ,

Russian’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during a meeting at the Foreign Ministry in Havana, Cuba, on April 29, 2014.Image: Ramon Espinosa/Associated Press Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov believes the crisis in Ukraine is bordering on civil war, and he wants to know if American mercenaries are partly to blame. “When Ukrainians kill Ukrainians, I believe this is as close to a civil war you can get,” the Russian diplomat said to Bloomberg’s Ryan Chilcote in an interview that aired Wednesday morning in the United States. Lavrov then questioned German media reports of American mercenaries at work in Ukraine in the interview. “I sent a message through our ambassador to Washington asking [they] respond to these assertions in the German media,” he said. “Rumors to this effect were spread before and John Kerry rejected them. Now they popped up again and we would like to see whether this is true or not,” he said. German media had reported there were 400 elite mercenaries working alongside the Ukrainian military to fight the pro-Russian separatists laying siege to eastern Ukraine. The rumors of American mercenaries at work in Ukraine last surfaced in a statement on the Russian foreign ministry’s website on April 8. U.S. contractor Academi (formerly Blackwater) denied the accusations at the time. “Academi is not taking part in any operations in Ukraine, and in the future this is not planned,” a spokesperson for the company stated. White House spokesperson Jay Carney called the rumors “bogus,” and the American ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt said they were “rubbish.” Dozens have been killed in recent weeks as pro-Kiev forces square off with pro-Russian rebels in a number of east Ukrainian cities. Rebels in two of them — Donetsk and Luhansk — held referendums on Sunday in which residents there voted for autonomy from Ukraine’s central government. A number of Russian and eastern Ukrainian officials have been sanctioned by U.S. and European Union officials for their alleged roles in the unrest. Wes Anderson Directs the New ‘Star Wars’

, , , , ,

Whether you’re excited about Star Wars: Episode VII or not, nearly all would agree that the upcoming director — whomever that might be — has some very high expectations to meet. Who do you picture the perfect director to lead the next generation of Star Wars fans? Is it Spielberg? Tarantino? Conan O’Brien picked Wes Anderson for the job during his show on Wednesday night — the latest in a series of hypothetical directors auditioning for the new Star Wars. Anderson is known for films such as The Life Aquatic, Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums, and has a very distinct aesthetic style. A Life Galactic — which is shown above, and obviously a parody — has many elements of Anderson’s previous films: Helvetica font, quirky decor and anticlimactic arguments. Sounds perfect for a scene as controversial as “Han Shot First,” right? BONUS: 10 Out of This World Star Wars-Disney Mashups Star Wars / Disney Memes Cool story, bro.
