googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DTBT_ATF’); }); As the saying goes,”curiosity killed the cat,” but luckily for this feline, help was on the way. Cats in general can be quite curious creatures. Can you blame them for wanting to explore and discover new things? For this cat, though, curiosity had gotten the better of him. Our furry friend became deprived of oxygen after getting his head stuck in a small glass jar. Fortunately, two men happened to be walking by and quickly discovered the feline in need. They left to retrieve some supplies. In a matter of seconds, they were able to safely free the cat from his glass chamber. There’s nothing worse than feeling like you can’t breathe. Check out the rescue of this claustrophobic cat! Thank goodness these quick-acting men were passing by at just the right time. They’re heroes in my book. Because this penguin was born blind, Blindy has had a tough life. At only 12 weeks old, the poor thing lost its family. Without help, Blindy surely would’ve died in the wild. Fittingly enough, however, a woman named Shireen Helps decided to lend a helping hand. Now living at the woman’s penguin sanctuary in Flea Bay, New Zealand, Blindy is learning more every day. Next up? Learning how to swim! Even though Blindy will never be able to return to the wild, Helps hopes that the penguin will find a forever home at a zoo one day. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DTAT_ATF’); }); Crows have a bit of a bum rap. Poets have famously demonized them, they wake us up at the crack of dawn after sleepless nights, and they’re tied to some seriously bizarre history. That being said, when crows are in need, we have to remember that they’re living beings just like us. While struggling to stay afloat, one unlucky crow was saved by an unlikely hero: a brown bear. Fortunately for the bird, its big protector wasn’t in the mood for wings that day. This video proves that in times of trouble, anyone can become a hero. One of the ways we can prevent sexual assault is by stepping in when we see something suspicious. That’s exactly what Staff Sgt. Anthony Ciccariello Jr., Sgt. James Smith and Spc. Evan Lipp did when off-duty at a bar in Watertown, New York, saving a young woman from an attacker. “I noticed the two males had the female on one of the couches and they were molesting her,” Lipp said. “I noticed that she was barely conscious. It didn’t look right.” Using their Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention training, the three men decided to step in and get the woman away from this awful situation. Together, the soldiers separated the man from the woman and handed him over to police. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DTAT_ATF’); }); What would you do to help a stranded, scared kitten that was stuck in a drain for four days? If you asked these heroes that question, they’d tell you that they’d stop at nothing to save her. The poor cat in this video found herself trapped in a drain, and when rescuers made their way down to her, she got scared and fell even farther down. That being said, they pressed on until they could finally get their hands on the kitten. Watch it all unfold in the video below. (via Love Meow) That’s one lucky cat! Not everyone would go to such great lengths to help an animal in need. Read more: http://www.viralnova.com/four-day-kitten/
One New Jersey transit cop is being hailed as a hero after rescuing a man who had become trapped on the train tracks. The cop jumped into action when he heard the train rapidly approaching. You can clearly see the officer trying to pull this man to safety in the following video, since he wasn’t able or was choosing not to move on his own. It is unclear whether this was an accident that led to injury or an attempted suicide. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DCBP_ATF’); }); Whatever the case might have been, this officer went above and beyond to protect and serve. Halloween used to be so simple. You could cut a couple of eye holes into a white sheet and PRESTO, you were a ghost! Getting free candy on Halloween used to be simple. These days, people spend more time creating the most elaborate and functional costumes ever made. What we found goes way beyond anything you’ve seen for Halloween. After this man’s recreation of a powerful (and usable) superhero weapon in his backyard, we’re pretty sure any other costumes don’t stand a chance this Halloween. (The military might want to take notice of it, too. Maybe Ironman can be a real thing.) Youtube To see how he made it, check out the entire video below. It’s Marvel-ous! (via io9) Study this video carefully. If you want to make your own Ironman costume, you should probably ensure you don’t end up setting your arm (or house) on fire. As someone who gets winded walking up the stairs, I deeply admire athletes. And as someone with a serious binge-watching problem, I admire athletes who also happen to perform stunts on hit TV shows even more. You might not know Jessie Graff’s name, but if you’ve watched “Supergirl” on CBS, you’ve definitely seen her work. This stuntwoman and all-around force to be reckoned with recently broke a record at the qualifiers for “American Ninja Warrior” by becoming the first woman to conquer the show’s new Warped Wall obstacle. If seeing her in action isn’t girl power at its finest, then I don’t know what is. My favorite part of this whole thing (aside from her killer outfit) is listening to the announcers freak out at every turn. So who wants to be my gym buddy? I clearly have some work to do. A family was out walking one day when they came across a momma duck with just one baby. Thinking it odd to see a solo duckling, they began looking for more babies…but they were nowhere to be found! That is until they heard desperate cries for help coming from a nearby drain pipe. Down in the depths staring back up at them were multiple ducklings trapped and clinging to life. They knew they had to help, but there was just one problem…no one had skinny enough arms to reach the little guys. That was when they got some help, calling a friend’s daughter to the scene to save the day. (via LittleThings) Thanks to six-year-old Mia, all but one of the ducklings were saved. They’ll get the chance to live full and happy lives. What a wonderful little hero! Read more: http://www.viralnova.com/saving-ducklings-rescue/
Presumably unable to resist the view from his high-rise apartment in Colombia, this little dog stuck his body through the railings…but quickly found himself dangling by his back paws. Luckily, the pup has some extremely nosey neighbors, and when they heard his yelps of distress, they sprung into action. Watch as one man climbs up from the balcony on the floor below to help this poor dog, despite the possibility of falling to his own doom. (via Mashable) Yikes! Has anyone in Colombia ever heard of spare keys? Hopefully, the pup’s owner learns to gate the balcony so their sight-seeing pooch doesn’t try to pull this stunt again.
