Surprise military homecomings are always emotional, but what makes this video of a son surprising his mother on her birthday especially emotional is that he just found out his mom had been diagnosed with cancer. Cat Is Rescued After Getting His Head Stuck In An Iron Fence

, , , , , , , , , ,

When a stray cat got his head stuck between the bars of an iron fence, the Los Angeles Animal Services Specialized Mobile Animal Rescue Team, otherwise known as SMART, was called out to rescue the feline in distress. The stray, nicknamed Midnight by neighbors, was known to regularly go in and out of the bottom of the fence. But one day, after being cruelly shot twice with a BB gun, the poor kitty got scared and ran through the wrong hole. After trying to gently push his head back through the bars, the rescue team enlisted the help of a vet technician who sedated Midnight as the team successfully freed him from the gate. After his dramatic rescue, Midnight was taken to an animal shelter to be cared for, and I’m very happy to report that the little guy was adopted soon after by a loving family. One of the ways we can prevent sexual assault is by stepping in when we see something suspicious. That’s exactly what Staff Sgt. Anthony Ciccariello Jr., Sgt. James Smith and Spc. Evan Lipp did when off-duty at a bar in Watertown, New York, saving a young woman from an attacker. “I noticed the two males had the female on one of the couches and they were molesting her,” Lipp said. “I noticed that she was barely conscious. It didn’t look right.” Using their Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention training, the three men decided to step in and get the woman away from this awful situation. Together, the soldiers separated the man from the woman and handed him over to police. The 10-year-old was placed in foster care with nothing more than a stuffed Easter bunny to remember her by. Lemmond thought her past had been forgotten. Then, a strange box arrived on the porch of her Colorado home. Inside were photos, her birth certificate, and, most incredibly, letters her mom had written just weeks before she died. While moving, the executor of her mother’s estate found the keepsakes and forwarded them along. Watch as she finally reads one of the letters her mother wrote her over two decades ago. Lemmond told NBC News: “After my mom passed away, I was shipped all over the country. From Washington States to Texas, to Louisiana, to Texas, back to Washington, back to Texas — in and out of state care — foster care. These are a glimpse into my past that I’ve sorely longed for, for over two decades now.” Read More: Airman’s ‘Engagement Game’ Turns Out To Be A Huge Surprise From His Fiancée The letters might be 23 years late, but every word still means so much. These Kind People Would Stop At Nothing To Return A Baby Bird Back To Its Nest

, , , , , , , , ,

The lengths our friends at the Wildlife Aid Foundation will go to in order to save an animal in need never cease to amaze me. When a baby kestrel fell out of its nest at the top of an enormous tree, Simon and his pals had to call in a highly trained climber so that the baby bird could be returned safely to it’s treetop home. It was a dangerous challenge, but as you’ll see in the video, it was all worth it in the end. I just love seeing how much some people care about animals. So much effort for one tiny little bird, now that’s what I call dedication. Good job, guys! Read more: http://www.viralnova.com/treetop-rescue/

They Were Eating With Their Daughter And Were Stunned When They Picked Up Spoons

One of the cutest and newest trends among expecting parents is filming surprise pregnancy announcements. Rather than just flat out telling their families about the happy news, they turn these momentous occasions into incredible memories. Cheryl Malik and her husband decided they wanted to do something cute for her parents to reveal the big news, and their approach was far more subtle than most of what we see online. Watch what happens when her parents take a closer look at those new spoons. That’s pure happiness right there. I’m certain that her dad is going to be the greatest grandfather ever — certainly the best one who can also do a wicked Mickey Mouse impression! Read more: http://www.viralnova.com/pregnancy-spoons/

What This Dog Did To Save A Little Girl’s Life Is Nothing Short Of Amazing

, , , , , , , , , , , , ,

googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DTBT_ATF’); }); Hero is normally a very quiet dog, so when he started whining incessantly one day, his owner knew something was very wrong. Four-year-old Sadie has type one diabetes and Down syndrome, which makes it quite difficult for her parents to monitor the little girl’s blood sugar levels. That’s where Hero comes in. The service dog has been specially trained to detect decreases in blood sugar. While many dogs have been trained to help diabetics in the same way, what Hero did one day is almost beyond comprehension. Little Sadie was at school five miles away from her home when Hero suddenly started whining to no end. Knowing something was wrong, her mom decided to call the school and ask them to check Sadie’s blood sugar. Everything looked fine at first, but within a half hour, it had dropped from 122 to 82. Hero somehow sensed what was wrong from miles away! Hero thoroughly deserves his name. If Sadie’s blood sugar had dropped any lower, she could have slipped into a diabetic coma. Service animals are so incredible at what they do, and their dedication is absolutely unmatched. Read more: http://www.viralnova.com/blood-sugar-dog/
