The Unusual Love Between This Lion And His White Tiger Friend Is Amazing

, , , , , , ,

Lions, tigers, and…best friends, oh my! Cameron the lion and Zabu the white tiger first met at a roadside zoo in New England in the early 2000s. Thankfully, the pair was rescued in 2004 by Big Cat Rescue in Tampa, Florida. Now, they spend their days being BFFs at the rescue (to the delight of both staff and visitors). The rescue saw how the two cats had bonded and knew they had to be kept together. To make sure both the cats and the caretakers were safe, the rescue spayed Zabu and neutered Cameron. This caused Cameron to lose his mane…but given the hot Florida weather, he probably didn’t mind. It’s important to remember that both of them are big cats… But it’s so fun to see them play with their favorite toys, sunbathe, groom each other, and be silly. Zabu the tiger even acts kittenish, according to Big Cat Rescue. “While Cameron tries to sleep most of the day away (as lions do in the wild), Zabu is extremely energetic and is always pestering him to play.” It’s easy to see why these unlikely friends love each other. Heart = melted. Read more: http://www.viralnova.com/lion-white-tiger-love/

They Walked Into A Seemingly Normal Home, But The Condition They Found It In? Horrible.

, , , , , , , , ,

I wish this was the last time I had to cover a puppy mill rescue, but I know it won’t be. Despite the widespread knowledge of the cruelty animals experience in puppy mills, the ASPCA still estimates that there are as many as 10,000 of these establishments all over the U.S. People who purchase animals from pet stores are all but handing their money over to unlicensed, horrible puppy mills. ViralNova No matter how adorable they look, odds are, the dogs came from an irresponsible “breeder” who cared very little about their well-being. This is what a puppy mill really looks like. YouTube / Animal Rescue Corps When the amazing people at Animal Rescue Corps got to the scene of this particular home in Morgan County, TN, they named the rescue Operation Dire Straits. YouTube / Animal Rescue Corps And it’s obvious why…these dogs had no time left. YouTube / Animal Rescue Corps Watch to see what else they found on the property and just how long they worked to save all these helpless animals. Please, please consider contributing to Animal Rescue Corps. They are doing incredible things to give animals like these ones a second chance at a happy, healthy life. What He Found In His Grandparents’ House Sent Him On A Journey Back In Time

, , , , , , , , , , , , ,

There are endless treasures to be found in our grandparents’ attics. While digging through these family heirlooms and artifacts, we’re lucky if we come across a few tattered photos from the war, or a chipped teacup from an old collection. Although substantial finds may be few and far between, these relics help us piece together the stories of our lives. But one man hit the jackpot one day while rummaging through his grandparents’ things. What he discovered sent him on a stunning journey back in time. He found a perfectly preserved film of his grandparents’ wedding that dates back to 1944. Vimeo / Bliss Productions Although this footage was captured decades ago, the affection shown by these two lovebirds is timeless. My Grandparents Wedding :: 16mm from 1944 from bliss* productions on Vimeo. Grandparents are often viewed as the pillars of the family. They’re seen as sage, wizened monuments to everything that younger generations stand for. It’s rare that we get to peek behind the curtain and marvel at who they were before we were born, and now that this man has stepped back in time, he will be able to move forward with a whole new perspective on who he is and where he came from. Watch Simon Cowell Choke Up on ‘X Factor’

, , , , , , , ,

Simon Cowell all choked up? Hard to believe, but the famously hard-hearted judge got misty-eyed after watching The X Factor contestant Jillian Jensen audition on the talent show. The 20-year-old Massachusetts native sang Jessie J’s “Who You Are” during a round of auditions, which aired during Wednesday night’s season premiere. “That was incredible,” Cowell says, while holding back tears. (Go to the 8:05 mark in the YouTube video above to see his reaction). Record executive L.A. Reid, pop star Britney Spears and singer Demi Lovato, who also sit on the judges’ panel, echoed his praise. YouTube Natives Next to Crash Emmy’s TV Party — Is 2014 the Year?

, , , , , ,

Benny and Rafi Fine of the Fine Bros.Image: YouTube YouTube creators the Fine Bros. aren’t sweating the 66th Primetime Emmys, despite that they’re on the nomination ballots, which are due back Friday. Too busy cranking out three videos a week to think about much else. But if the makers of popular shows like Kids React sneak in, they’ll make history. SEE ALSO: The Path From YouTube to Movie Star Just Got Wider That’s because no native YouTube creator has ever garnered an Emmy nod — and by “native” creator I’m talking purely YouTube-first series, not associated with pre-existing brands or TV shows. Digital nominations have sprang from the TV ecosystem, but one’s come straight from the YouTube mob. They’ve been eligible for a few years now. Been throwing their hats in the ring, too — it’s not a terribly high bar. And just in case you think no punk with a GoPro is ever winning an Emmy, remember that cable TV wasn’t invited until 1988, and it took six years for that uncivilized rabble to bring one home. You’ll never guess which network broke the barrier. (Hint: its name includes the letters H, B and O.) Streamed shows first became eligible for certain categories in 2008, and it took only five years for Netflix to finally crack TV’s 64-year hold with three wins for House of Cards last year (directing, casting and cinematography). A smattering of web series have gotten nominations going back to 2011, but all were riding some other brand’s coattails, and none have won. Last year, for instance, Machinima’s web series Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn competed for Best Main Title Design; all of its rivals also had name recognition, including The Newsroom, Elementary, Vikings, American Horror Story: Asylum and Da Vinci’s Demons. Other past web-only series short-form nominees with pedigree have included Jay Leno’s Garage (2011); Bravo’s Top Chef: Last Chance Kitchen (2012); and The Office: The Farewells (2013). Surely, the YouTube-native nominee is coming. It will happen, and when it does, it will touch off a cascade. Could this be the year? Mmmmaybe. The category to watch is Outstanding Short-Format Live-Action Entertainment Program, whose 28 contenders include four native YouTube creators: Arscheerio Paul, Epic Rap Battles of History, Glove and Boots and Guy Dubai: International Gay Spy. The other is Outstanding Short-Format Nonfiction Program, which has just one: The Fine Bros. Benny Fine — one half of the Fine Bros. — isn’t exactly planning to be up at 5:30 a.m. when the nominees are announced July 10. Not when he’s competing against established brands like NBC’s Beyond The Blacklist, Food Network’s Chopped After Hours and ABC’s Nashville: On the Record. But he’s upbeat about submitting, as he should be. “The advantage to a thing like this is showing what new media is becoming,” Fine told Mashable. “Things are just starting to shift. We used to be just two guys, but we’re a production company now (with some 15 employees) … and a nomination would bring us […]

Hillary Clinton Takes (Another) Jab at Putin

, , ,

During a talk before the Council on Foreign Relations in New York City, former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton let it all out – a jab at Russian President Vladimir Putin, her shock at the on-going situation in Iraq and a reaction to Eric Cantor’s primary loss. While reflecting on her time as Secretary of State, she discussed the difficulty in forging diplomacy with certain foreign leaders, particularly Russian President Vladimir Putin. “There are obvious exceptions — very difficult to build relationships with some people,” Clinton said. “And I’m talking about you, Vladimir,” she said — somewhat — jokingly. Clinton also hinted during the promotion of her new memoir ‘Hard Choices’ that some world leaders, like Putin, “may not be happy” with some of the book’s content. This series of digs come just days after Putin called Clinton “weak” during a sexist rant on French Television. Russian President Vladimir Putin, left, meets U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton in Vladivostok, Russia, Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012. Image: Mikhail Metzel/Associated Press It wasn’t just her honesty about Putin that caught attention, but also her reaction to the ISIS in Iraq. “This is not just a Syrian problem anymore. I never thought it was a Syrian problem, I thought it was a regional problem,” she said. “I could not have predicted the extent to which ISIS (Islamic State in Iraq and Syria) could be effective in seizing cities in Iraq and trying to erase boundaries and create an Islamic state.” On a roll, she also commented on the primary loss of Republican majority leader, Eric Cantor. “I think it shows the continuing conflict within the Republican party over its direction and that will be a challenge. It may not effect necessarily the election in November, we’ll see, but it will certainly have long-term implications for 2016 and maybe beyond,” she said. Needless to say, the former secretary isn’t holding anything back. Read more: http://mashable.com/2014/06/12/hillary-clinton-putin-iraq-cantor/

Baby Swan Stuck In A Fence Gets Rescued, But Not Before Daddy Causes A Scene.

, , , , , , , , , ,

Simon from the Wildlife Aid Foundation received a call about a cygnet (young swan) that found itself in a terrible predicament by getting stuck in a fence. Once near the stuck little swan, Simon had to face an angry cob (male swan) that wouldn’t let anybody near his poor baby. As he attempted to get the baby swan free, the cob kept on swiping at him with its powerful wings. Simon wouldn’t let it faze him and kindly told the angry male swan “don’t be silly” and to “stop it”. Which is just the most adorably English thing I’ve ever heard. I was half expecting him to offer the swan a cup of tea, too. (Source: Wildlife Aid) Seeing that beautiful family swim off at the end was totally worth the few bruises Simon may have received from that cob. Read more: http://viralnova.com/baby-swan-rescue/

You’ve probably heard the term “to land on a dime,” but what about landing on a narrow guard rail? Totally Unbothered Cat Stuck On Balcony Saves Himself During Rescue Effort

Those of us who live with cats know they’re super independent creatures who only want attention on their terms — and in this kitty’s case, that’s true even when it comes to life-threatening situations! On January 19, firefighters from the Fortitude Valley QFRS were called to an apartment building in Queensland, Australia, after a cat fell from the top floor and got stuck on a lower balcony ledge. But being the cat he is, the little guy had to make sure his rescuers knew he could get out of the situation by himself. One firefighter was lifted by a crane to free the cat from his precarious position. YouTube / Nathan Ryan But as soon as the man got close enough to grab him, he decided to rescue himself.
