“Why did the chicken cross the road?” This corny joke has plagued us for generations, but as it turns out, Washington State has an unusually fishy take on the age-old joke. Each year during the months of November and December, local media can be found hovering around the Skokomish River in an attempt to catch a glimpse at the chum salmon making their annual spawning journey to lay their eggs. While we usually picture these fish bravely swimming upstream to their egg-laying spot, the fish in these parts do something a little crazier to get where they’re going. As spawning season approaches, the Skokomish River often floods due to excessive rainfall, forcing large amounts of water into the adjacent streets. This overflow leads many salmon to cross the road, creating a spectacle that must be seen to be believed. The whole thing unfolds like a game of Frogger. <div class="llcust" data-lltype="media" id="ll_5a1cd2b5d3745" data-source=" Read more: http://www.viralnova.com/fish-crossing/
There’s a 23-year-old bear named Stepan living in Russia who is the cutest family member in the history of family members. Living with a couple named Svetlana and Yuriy Panteleenko, he spends his days watching TV, having tea parties with Mom and Dad, and helping out around the house. Prepare for unprecedented levels of preciousness. Yeah, I love my pets and all, but having a cutie like Stepan around the house would be pretty great. If you’ll excuse me, I need to watch that tea party scene again about 30 more times. Read more: http://www.viralnova.com/russian-bear-family/
“You Raise Me Up” is far from an easy song to sing. Most people need years of singing experience to do it justice. This is why everyone was amazed when 5-year-old Celine Tam stepped onto the stage and started singing like an angel. The whole audience was on their feet and clapping along by the end of her performance. She clearly has a bright future ahead of her. (Source: Tam Steve) What a beautiful voice. To be able to give the song that emotion and intensity it requires at age 5 is nothing short of incredible. Read more: http://viralnova.com/you-raise-me-up/

What’s the sturdiest smartphone on the market today? Among the most popular flagships, it appears to be the HTC One M8, which survived drops that proved catastrophic to its contemporaries, the Samsung Galaxy S5 and iPhone 5S. The gang at TechSmartt did a thorough test, dropping all three phones from waist height, head height and even over-the-head height to see who would survive. First to die was the iPhone 5S. Apple’s phones did very well in previous drop tests (probably aided by the relatively small screen), but it landed on its face in this one, cracking the screen from only head height. Going over the head, the Galaxy S5 was next to go, suffering a fatal screen crack while the HTC One kept on ticking. Only when the HTC fell from an unlikely 10-foot drop did it, too, get smashed. Does this mean the HTC One M8 gets bragging rights as the hardiest device you can buy? Not necessarily — after all, as the tester notes, there was no way to ensure the phones all fell the same way. But the One, with its solid metal casing may have a slight advantage over its rivals. In any case, these tests are fun to watch. HTC One M8 Review One Is the Safest Number The new HTC One may be a little larger and more refined than the previous version, but the experience is fundamentally the same. It’s still an excellent Android phone, though, with a killer camera. It’s available on all major U.S. carriers. NOTE: The video above may be NSFW. Actors Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey often play roles that require little-to-no clothing, and moviegoers seem to be pretty ok with that in their latest flick Magic Mike. But what if a more unconventional sex symbol was stripping on the big screen? The self-proclaimed assistant to Jason Biggs “leaked” a video of the American Pie actor’s audition tape. Though it’s validity is questionable, the video above is slightly more SFW than his first movie strip-down — but in many ways, it’s equally embarrassing. Microsoft’s new anime ad is the latest creative response to one of the biggest marketing challenges in tech: rebranding Internet Explorer. The browser, often the butt of jokes among would-be technorati despite its overwhelming global popularity, is presented as a bulwark against all kinds of Internet bad guys. You don’t need a degree in English Lit to grasp the symbolism here as the young heroine grabs a shield with a monogrammed “I” and is transformed into a warrior. The protagonist is, in fact, Inori Aizawa, the “official mascot of the Internet Explorer,” according to her Facebook Page. Aizawa is the latest attempt to reintroduce IE to the masses, following “Child of the 90s,” one of the top viral ads of this year so far. That ad appears to have helped IE hold on to 57.8% of worldwide market share, according to The Next Web. This isn’t the first time Microsoft has presented itself as a consumer advocate. Once sued by the Department of Justice over monopolistic behavior, the company has in recent years presented itself as a less evil alternative to Google via its “Scroogled” campaign. Most people who see an animal in danger would do their best to help. But what happens if that animal is enormous? One Swedish couple found out when they were out to lunch and saw a female moose struggling to get out of a lake. She had fallen through the layer of ice on top of the lake, and was so panicked and exhausted that she couldn’t make her way back to solid ground. Fortunately, the couple brought an axe. They began the delicate work of trying to stay out of the water themselves while helping the moose. Check out the rescue below.
