Anytime you go in for surgery, there’s a chance you might walk away with complications…or worse. But when there was a payment dispute between a doctor and a patient in China, one woman received more hurt than she bargained for. The following video was taken at a hospital in Inner Mongolia, and it’s believed that it was captured in the gynecology unit. Allegedly, the woman was about to be operated on when the doctor asked for more money to complete the procedure. An argument started, the patient lashed out, and eventually, the doctor slapped the patient and forcefully restrained her. While it’s never okay to resort to violence, some are saying that the woman had every right. According to reports across the country, doctors are preying on patients and extorting them in their weakest hour, which is supposedly what happened in this woman’s case. Because of this and other factors like a growing upper class with very specific expectations, recent numbers show that Chinese patients are attacking their doctors more and more often. One of the ways we can prevent sexual assault is by stepping in when we see something suspicious. That’s exactly what Staff Sgt. Anthony Ciccariello Jr., Sgt. James Smith and Spc. Evan Lipp did when off-duty at a bar in Watertown, New York, saving a young woman from an attacker. “I noticed the two males had the female on one of the couches and they were molesting her,” Lipp said. “I noticed that she was barely conscious. It didn’t look right.” Using their Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention training, the three men decided to step in and get the woman away from this awful situation. Together, the soldiers separated the man from the woman and handed him over to police. This video may seem silly, but its message is important for everyone to hear. Not the greatest odds, huh? It’s time for us all to stand up and make a difference in the safety of young women and girls everywhere. If you tuned into Super Bowl 50 last weekend, chances are that you, like most Americans, were watching partly because of the game, and partly because of the ridiculous commercials. Companies pay extremely large amounts of money to have their ads seen on Super Bowl Sunday, and this year was no exception. But one commercial was much more salient than the rest. Using imagery that we can all understand, the No More campaign raised awareness of something that shatters thousands of lives every year.
