Over the last few months, floods have been a deadly, though common, occurrence throughout India. Already killing at least 70 people, they’ve proven deadly to man, and if it weren’t for the courage of one mother dog, several puppies would have perished, too. When floodwaters rose in Chennai, one stray dog got separated from her babies. Watch as she swims through a garbage-infested river in an effort to find and save the pups. (via Metro) Watching from above, the onlookers no doubt wished they could have helped this mom. But after she helped her first little one, they could tell she had everything under control — according to witnesses she saved three more! Read more: http://www.viralnova.com/dog-river-stranded/
The lengths our friends at the Wildlife Aid Foundation will go to in order to save an animal in need never cease to amaze me. When a baby kestrel fell out of its nest at the top of an enormous tree, Simon and his pals had to call in a highly trained climber so that the baby bird could be returned safely to it’s treetop home. It was a dangerous challenge, but as you’ll see in the video, it was all worth it in the end. I just love seeing how much some people care about animals. So much effort for one tiny little bird, now that’s what I call dedication. Good job, guys! Read more: http://www.viralnova.com/treetop-rescue/
googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DTAT_ATF’); }); What would you do to help a stranded, scared kitten that was stuck in a drain for four days? If you asked these heroes that question, they’d tell you that they’d stop at nothing to save her. The poor cat in this video found herself trapped in a drain, and when rescuers made their way down to her, she got scared and fell even farther down. That being said, they pressed on until they could finally get their hands on the kitten. Watch it all unfold in the video below. (via Love Meow) That’s one lucky cat! Not everyone would go to such great lengths to help an animal in need. Read more: http://www.viralnova.com/four-day-kitten/
Some rescue crews have equipment that helps save the lives of animals, but this unit in Vancouver did not. When this dog needed desperate help after being pulled from a house fire, the firefighters had to act quickly to save his life. After a candle sparked the fire, the dog passed out from smoke inhalation. Thankfully, the crew knew how to use the tools they had to bring this pup back from the edge. It’s a good thing they were quick to act! Read more: http://www.viralnova.com/house-fire-dog-rescue/
I wish this was the last time I had to cover a puppy mill rescue, but I know it won’t be. Despite the widespread knowledge of the cruelty animals experience in puppy mills, the ASPCA still estimates that there are as many as 10,000 of these establishments all over the U.S. People who purchase animals from pet stores are all but handing their money over to unlicensed, horrible puppy mills. ViralNova No matter how adorable they look, odds are, the dogs came from an irresponsible “breeder” who cared very little about their well-being. This is what a puppy mill really looks like. YouTube / Animal Rescue Corps When the amazing people at Animal Rescue Corps got to the scene of this particular home in Morgan County, TN, they named the rescue Operation Dire Straits. Mufasa was a mountain lion who had known nothing but a life full of misery. He spent 20 horrible years chained to the back of a pick-up truck in a Peruvian circus, but when kind rescuers from Animal Defenders International heard about his struggle and found a way to free him, they changed his life forever. The day Mufasa got his first taste of forest life is a moment that can’t be missed. Sadly, Mufasa passed away in late December of 2015, just a few months after he found freedom. His chained-up life in the circus irreparably damaged his health, and he was suffering from kidney failure. As sad as it is that he didn’t get to enjoy more time in his new forest home, never experiencing life in the wild at all would have been the real tragedy. Dr. Matt Carriker, a veterinarian from Texas, was so stunned when the poor pup entered his office with extreme chemical burns.
