One Bird Stuck In A Warehouse Gives Wildlife Rescuers A Really Hard Time.

, , , , , , ,

Trying to catch a bird of prey is hard enough as it is, let alone when they are all panicked due to being stuck in a very large warehouse. Simon and Sean from the Wildlife Aid Foundation spent a couple of hours chasing a Sparrowhawk around a warehouse. Having dealt with similar situations before, Simon knew what he had to do. He attempted to corner the frightened bird so that Sean, who was waiting in a very precarious position, could capture it. Eventually the pair managed to capture the small bird of prey and set it free, but it was no easy task. (Source: Wildlife Aid) Forget about “needle in a haystack”, the new term should be “Sparrowhawk in a warehouse.” Read more: http://viralnova.com/sparrowhawk-rescue/

The Mating Song Of The Last Kauai ‘O’o Bird On Earth Is Haunting

, , , , , , , , , , ,

When you hear birds chirping in the springtime, it’s safe to say that they’re calling out to potential mates. Because it’s such an ordinary sound, it probably doesn’t occur to you that it could be the last time that bird’s call is ever heard. While it’s a far-fetched idea, that was the thought going through the heads of researchers in 1987 as they recorded the last male Kauai ‘O’o bird singing on the Hawaiian island of Kauaʻi. The small bird had been pushed to extinction by the introduction of non-native species. By 1987, there was only one left — a single male. In the video below, you can hear the last mating song of the Kauai ‘O’o bird as he calls out to a mate that would never answer. (source: Robert Davis ) Honestly, listening to that bird’s song and writing this moved me to tears. How many more species have to slip away before humanity gets its act together? You’ll Laugh When You See What This Seagull’s Unique Talent Is – Too Funny!

googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DTAT_ATF’); }); A while back we brought you a story about an amazing tap dancing seagull in Wales. Well, the little guy is still dancing like no one is watching! The feathered fella seems to be quite the celebrity these days and is always willing to do a little jig for a yummy snack. Fun fact: Seagulls actually developed this ability to “tap dance” because the sound of their feet hitting the ground resembles raindrops, which brings out the worms. So, basically, this clever bird is using his tap dancing skills to get his supper even when there is nothing but pavement and concrete around. All I could think about while watching this was, “He’s a maniac, maniac on the floor! And he’s dancing like he’s never danced before!” Read more: http://www.viralnova.com/tap-dancing-seagull/

These Kind People Would Stop At Nothing To Return A Baby Bird Back To Its Nest

, , , , , , , , ,

The lengths our friends at the Wildlife Aid Foundation will go to in order to save an animal in need never cease to amaze me. When a baby kestrel fell out of its nest at the top of an enormous tree, Simon and his pals had to call in a highly trained climber so that the baby bird could be returned safely to it’s treetop home. It was a dangerous challenge, but as you’ll see in the video, it was all worth it in the end. I just love seeing how much some people care about animals. So much effort for one tiny little bird, now that’s what I call dedication. Good job, guys! Read more: http://www.viralnova.com/treetop-rescue/

Farmer Gets A Horrible Shock After Finding His Favorite Duck Freezing To Death

googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DTAT_ATF’); }); Matt McDougall is a Canadian duck farmer who films the exploits of his group of waterfowl friends for his YouTube channel, 50 Ducks In A Hot Tub. As you might expect, McDougall is very attached to all of his birds. But one duck in particular, Mrs. Gimp, has become both his and his viewers’ favorite due to her friendly personality. One day, McDougall got a huge shock when he spotted what he feared was a dead duck floating in the bathtub the ducks like to play around in. He ran outside to find that it was Mrs. Gimp. He quickly realized she was suffering from hypothermia so he rushed her inside. There he repeatedly submerged her in tubs of warm water to get her body temperature back to normal… It’s wonderful to see people really go the extra mile for an animal in need. Bravo to this wonderful man and the dedication he put into reviving his feathery friend. Read more: http://www.viralnova.com/duck-hypothermia/

Ducklings Stuck Down A Storm Drain Get Rescued As Their Concerned Mom Looks On

, , , , , , , , , , ,

A team of firefighters in Auckland, New Zealand, banded together to help a distraught mother duck after her ducklings fell down a storm drain. The team of heroes formed an assembly line to pull the tiny babies out while the notably anxious mom duck watched. The moment the chirping cuties are reunited with their mother is one that will put a huge smile on your face. I’m so glad someone took the time to get a closer look at that drain once they heard the quacks coming from it. It’s people like these fine firefighters that make the world a better place. I’m sure this momma duck will be forever grateful for their kindness. Read more: http://www.viralnova.com/ducklings/
