Zlatan Ibrahimović is one of the most famous soccer players in the world. A fan favorite, he’s instantly recognizable, and people chant his name everywhere he goes. But for him, this is a problem. Not because he’s shy or unappreciative of his fans — but because there are over 800 million people around the world whose names should be chanted instead. Before the February 14, 2015 match between Paris Saint-German and Caen at Parc des Princes, he put the finishing touches on 50 names that are symbolic of a global crisis. During the game, he removed his jersey and brought these names to the forefront. What they represent will break you heart. To support the United Nations World Food Programme and Zlatan Ibrahimović’s fight against world hunger, make sure to donate here. This isn’t just a good cause. It’s an issue that, if solved, will help heal our entire planet. Read more: http://www.viralnova.com/millions-of-names/
At some point, we’ve all had that fantasy of abandoning society and living off the grid. I’ve always dreamed of having my own personal island, but I’ve never entertained the idea that it could actually be done. I couldn’t be more wrong, though. Not only is it possible, but there are two people who are living their best lives on one right now. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DCBP_ATF’); }); Artists Wayne Adams and Catherine King were tired of city life, so in the 1990s, they decided to go back into nature. They began building their own sustainable home off the coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. And after 24 years of hard work and dedication, they have an incredible floating home that’s aptly called Freedom Cove. Although they’re not totally off the grid, their lifestyle is different than what we’re used to. In this picture, it looks like they live on the side of a mountain, which would already be enviable. Facebook / Catherine King googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DCBM_BTF’); }); But here you can see that their home is floating. Facebook / Catherine King They even have their own greenhouses and gardens to grow food. Facebook / Catherine King googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DCI1_BTF’); }); And needless to say, they have a gorgeous view. Facebook / Catherine King Would you build something like this if you had the chance? (via MindBodyGreen) I have never seen a home as amazing as this one. I wonder if they would consider letting me stay there on vacation. I could even bring one of these. Read more: http://www.viralnova.com/floating-island-home/
We all know this saying: “Give a man a fish, and he’ll eat for a night. Teach a man to fish, and he’ll eat forever.” But as it turns out, the scope of that adage is a bit narrow. That’s because this golden retriever named Rani loves to fish, too! You can see her in action in the video below. She uses bait and everything! Rani has used this method to capture dozens of fish and turtles over the years. There’s something pretty adorable about a self-sufficient pup, am I right? When visual dance act Another Kind Of Blue stepped onto the stage of “Britain’s Got Talent,” the judges and audience had no idea they were about to witness possibly the greatest dance routine they’d ever seen. Comprised of 23-year-old Violet from the Netherlands and 28-year-old Nino from Italy, the pair of dancers specialize in floor-based routines. Using a backdrop of graphics, the talented artists move around on the floor while interacting with the animated scenes being projected onto the floor around them. It’s as equally mind-blowing as it is emotional. Believe me when I say this, you’re in for a treat. It’s not often I find myself agreeing with Simon, but like he said, that was absolutely “genius”! When you think of animals with immense strength, honey bees probably don’t come to mind. While walking by a brick wall one day, this man turned and saw a bee investigating a nail. Wondering why on Earth a honey bee, a creature that’s been around for centuries, would be so interested in a piece of hardware, he turned on his camera and started filming. Perhaps one of its 170 odor receptors caught wind of the ultimate prize, or maybe its 200 wing beats per second tuckered it out and it needed a snooze. In any case, this little bug decided to show off its strength in a pretty baffling way. Someone should probably run and tell Dwayne Johnson that this little bee definitely smells what The Rock is cooking. Read more: http://www.viralnova.com/bionic-bee/
Firefighters put their lives on the line each and every day so that we can stay safe in our homes. It’s so heartbreaking to see these men and women lose their lives and sustain devastating injuries while doing such selfless work. One man who knows that all too well is Mississippi-based firefighter Patrick Hardison. While responding to a call for a massive house fire back in 2001, the roof caved in on him, and the scalding materials melted straight through his mask. The resulting injury changed his life forever. Holding world records is cool. Holding world records for things like this? Not so much. When we think of world record holders, we usually picture star athletes pulling off epic feats of physical fitness or people doing death-defying stunts in the name of Guinness. What we don’t usually envision is some dude popping his eyes out and keeping them like that for way, way too long. But alas, here we are. Yeah, I don’t think I can live the same life after seeing that. I think I’ll stick to working on the world’s largest stamp collection. Read more: http://www.viralnova.com/eye-popping-record/
